I've got a brand new, unopened Belkin N600 DB router (yay 50% off sale), and I can't seem to figure out if I can use it as a repeater. As far as I can tell, it doesn't support DD-WRT or Tomato, but I'm wondering if there may be some way to rig it up to repeat Wifi. Also, I really need to know before I open it, because, being a bit tight on money at the moment, I'll probably sell it if I can't use it as a repeater.

You will then be directed to the router's web-based setup page similar to the one below. If you want to change or configure any settings, you will need to log in with your router's administrator password by clicking on Login at the top right corner of the page.

From what I see in the manual this router probably won't do what your hopping for. if your looking to extend your wireless network or bridge non wireless devices on to the wireless network and don't plan on using this as the device that gets wired to the internet connection, it won't work.

Very hearbroken. Have been advocating for Open Software. Just purchased Berklin RT3200. Was very excited. Watched icannotgetafreename on youtube to install open WRT. Followed direction. Connected router to computer with ethernet cable. I connected to it via WIFI. Connected via 192.168.1.1 //went into updatsoftware installed recovery OPenWRt as the video showed. Alt-tabbed to play my game. Went back. No router. I think I connected via WiFi -- video did not say I have to connect via ethernet cable. Very upset. Try reset-- hold button--- 3 seconds. Router does not show in Wifi /connect via cable, doesn't detect it.

Anyone has any advice what to do. I just lost faith --- and just upset that instruction did not talk about need to connect via etherent connect. Just don;t know what to do-- absolutly devostated. New router, been saving for long time, excited to join openWRT --- and just no openWRT nor I have router that works, or reset. (using old router to connect to the internet. 0

If you can, please connect to your OpenWrt device using ssh and copy the output of the following commands and post it here using the "Preformatted text " button:

Remember to redact passwords, MAC addresses and any public IP addresses you may have:

You are right. I am complaining. I am not that smart. I just relied upon the video. Yet, is it wrong to trust people in this community or who claim to be in this community, that if something did not work our, I could just reset it? I thank you for your help. But, I just dont understand anything you wrote. I just wanted to embrace openWRT. This sort of things, as it happened to me, can't be happening to others. Its real money I lost. I waited long time to save them and get router.

The connection type has no role, at least for OpenWrt itself. (And would sound strange that Belkin/Linksys OEM flashing routine would require that, either.)
But as WiFi is initially disabled in OpenWrt, you need a wired connection after the installation in any case...
(Like the step 1 in installation advice in @daniel (dangowrt) site implies:

I have both lights working on the Belkin Router.
While I am connected to WiFi via old router -- I am also connected to Belkin router via ethernet cable now. the internet light blinks from time to time.

I tried 10 second reset- as I watched in video, and i did a hard reset: hold reset for 10 sec. => nothing happens.
when I hold reset, unplug and then plug again, and hold it for 5 seconds, the light turns yellow. After a while the lights turn white (both the power and internet) and then internet blnks for a while. My ethernet connection says "Identifying" and nothing else. The router does not show up on WiFi.

When I connected initially and put the program to update, I alt-tab to play a game....so I don;t know what happened. I just know when I came back, there was not Belkin visible on wifi or via ethernet.

I don't believe that you have actually bricked the new router, but you just have a connectivity/routing problem.
Easiest would be to connect via wired directly from computer to the rt3200, and keep the other router disconnected so that there are not two 192.168.1.1.

My sister's old Belkin router died and she has tried to replace it with both an Asus and a Netgear router and has the same problem with both. We call tech support last night and they could not resolve her problem. She is on Gen4 using a Hughes Jupiter HT1100 which does NOT have builtin wifi, so she connects to an external wifi router for that. Her computer is cabled to the router. Her HP printer connects wirelessly to the router (both tried) and works, and iPhones connect to the router, but do not connect to the internet. The routers show the iPhones as attached devices, but the iPhones say "no internet connection, If this is your Wi-Fi network, try restarting the modem and the router, or contact your ISP." This has happened with an iPhone 9, 12 and 13 with current and most recent prior IOS software. She recalls much difficulty getting the old Belkin to work at first requiring calls to tech support, but she doesn't recall the details, and the Belkin died so we could not see how it was set up. We have searched Apple, Asus and Netgear forums and have not found the exact answer. Some similar problems with cable modems and routers have mentioned "double NAT" as a problem, and to use "bridge mode" but they were not clear answers. Has anyone come across or solved this?

Thank you, but that solution, as you say, is for the HT2000W modem which has a builtin wifi router. Her HT1100 is only a satellite modem without wifi which is provided by a separate wifi router. We do suspect some setting, however. Regards - John D for mkclark

Right now, this has gotten even worse. Cannot connect to Tablo on mac, iPhone, or Roku 3. But I can connect instantly when turning off iPhone WiFi and using Tablo Connect. So I know that the Tablo is connected to my router. I know my hard drive is waking up - I can play recordings on Tablo Connect. For some reason my home WiFi network is not allowing the connection. Any ideas of what could be causing this?

My Verizon fios system was recently installed. My home is wired for a Cat5e home network and standard Coax in all rooms. The fios system is currently connected to the Coax connections and the TVs and Fios router all work fine. Problem is that I would also like to use the Cat5e connections for devices that access the internet that don't have wireless capability and are not proximate to the Fios router. Is it possible to connect the ONT to my Cat5e home network so that I can connect other devices directly to the Cat5e outlets, and keep the existing Coax set-up?

One option might be to move the router to the basement (where the equipment is located that I want to connect to the Cat5e network), but then the router will likely be too far from the rest of the house to receive the wireless signal. In that case, is it possible to connect a wireless router in another location (I have a Belkin wireless router). Or do I need to get another router from Verizon?

You can configure your FIOS Service to use both your Belkin Router and the Verizon Router. Your Verizon Router can have a COAX Connection for the MOCA Network so that it can communicate with the STBs and an Ethernet Connection for Data.

I just spoke to Verizon Fios Tech Support and they claim that it is NOT possible to use both the Coax and Cat5e connections. So, for those that have a Cat5e home network, but still want to use th Coax for TV, Verzon says you are out of luck.

Sorry you got that answer...but you can run coax for TV and then use ethernet for data. Just you will need to use a actiontech for getting guide and VOD data to your STB's. Now as far as locations I would need more information about where everything is and what makes sense to the devices you want to use...but if you want to switch your DATA to come from ethernet we can do that for you.

Thats not strickly true but its not bad info either. You cant use both the coax and cat5 at the same time for INTERNET. The coax internet port (moca) is not active at the same time as the ethernet port. However, many systems use the ethernet for internet and coax for TV.

I would assume that you have some kind of utility closet were all the ethernet cables converge, where you could place the router so that it can connect to all the rooms. Is this correct? If so, is there also a coax connection in there? Again, if so, you could place the verizon router in the closet, connect the coax to the router for the link to verizon and the TV's and then connect the ethernet to the lan for the rest of the house. This would be the simplest way assuming that you have this type of connection available to you. there are many other ways but it would all depend on what you have available to you and how your house wiring is set up

Is is very possible to connect using both Via Coax or Ethernet but from the Actiontech, It is not possible to have both the Ports Moca and Ethernet active on the ONT. So home that clarify a little, but I do again with the person listed above. You will need to move the VZ Router into the area where all you Networks Home run too, basically your main splitter for the Cable and Cat5 network. The Verizon router not have has a connection for the Coax and Cat5. I have it set up this way basically have a 3 / 3 board that houses all the equipment works great!!
