What suppliers do people use for filament?  I've used Form Futura in the Netherlands for my last order but I'm looking for cheaper suppliers closer to home.  FF were very quick in shipping, I've had no problems with the filament they sent me and they seem to be adding new materials since they didn't sell the flex PLA or Nylon when I was ordering my last batch.

Any recommendations on suppliers?

Hi Shane,
Yeah what Dave about faberdashery their PLA is pretty good stuff, although I nervously bought some PLA as it was so cheap, just for wasting while learning and I have to say there were no problems with it (The grey wheels I had with me at Fabricon were printed from it) averaging between 12 -17 and delivery at € 9 .
Nylon
https://www.lulzbot.com/?q=cart/checkout seems the best deal for Taulamnn Nylon in europe but best send via a UK address or Parcel Motel (http://www.parcelmotel.com/) 31.55USD = 24 + (3.50 Parcel Motel fee)even without sending via UK it's still cheaper than other suppliers I've seen 44USD =    34, all others I've looked at are 34 plus delivery which is the realm of at least another 15
Wood
I bought my wood filament from this guy Ben, nice bloke loves you more if you have a mendel but cool all the same , as you can see by his pricing he's not out to make money the Transport cost is 15 but you can bulk up on that and is still only 15, Give me a shout if you want to share costs on an order.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm going to make one order with Form Futura for some of the Flex PLA but I'll need to order 3 or 4 spools of frosty white PLA from Faberdashery within the next week if anyone's interested in combining an order.

On second thoughts, I won't be buying the Flex PLA.  The shipping from the Netherlands is €26 so I guess I'll have to find something else.  i was going to print flexible joints for a set of glasses frames and glue them to the stems.  Might have to screw joint them.

Hey Shane, would a flexi -joint design like this not work, easy to draw and simple to print??Just sayin.

It would, but for a repeatedly opened joint like the hinge on glasses, I think it would break quite quickly.  I might use something like the as an interim measure until I can get some of the Flex PLA.  It's not an ideal solution either at the moment as I don't have a second extruder so I'd need to epoxy the flex joint to the solid stems and frames.  Some thing to work on over the summer at least.

No my name is not Taulamnn, but, have you considered Nylon, very low risk of shear for something like that and you can also dye it too, if you're around town I'll drop you a bit for testing.

I might take you up on that Steve.  I'll be printing my thesis project pieces in white PLA over the next few weeks so it will be after that by the time I get this project going.

I was looking at those sunglasses and the way he made the hinges.  I wonder how well they bend and how long they'll last.  I'm going to test a few versions when I get the chance.

Cool, Nice one Dave! I gave a guy a nylon printed piece to beat with a hammer today, I'm that sure , I tried to cut a piece with a knife , not quick, with hinges similar to these i believe would make for a more successful model,

Some pretty interesting hinges there.  It's hard to get out of the mindset of standard ways of doing things.  My first thought was to use screwed hinges but there's no real point in 3D printing it if that's all I'm going to do.

I'm going to place an order with Faberdashery tomorrow for some filament if anyone is interested in sharing shipping costs to Dublin.  The difference in cost when using Parcel Motel is only €6-7 so I'm going to get it shipped straight to the city.
