Hello all,
It looks like UCD are in-bracing 3D printers.

The article seems to suggest it is for UCD students. It also
suggests,in the photo etc, that you may need to assemble the printer,
or at least there will be loads of cheap printers used as part of the
event and that the printers will be distributed around UCD afterwards.

This is a great initiative for the college.  They get printers built for them, students get to play with 3D printers and departments get a printer for themselves.  I assume UCD got some sort of deal from Ultimaker for a load of them and that's why it's only them being made.  It makes sense to limit it to students if the printers will be staying put but does it really take a team to build one of them?  If it were repraps I could see a team being useful, but I didn't think Ultimakers were that complicated to assemble.

I tried getting DIT to fund even a single printer and it was a no-go.
