Dublin -TOG Reprap arduino code improvement day Saturday 5th of October 2-6pm

Hi,

I am helping organise this event this Saturday afternoon. All the
details are not set in stone, but I said I would try give as much
advance notice for those on this mailing list.

Proposal to hold a 3D Printer arduino code improvement day this
Saturday 5th of October from 2pm-6pm

The aim of the afternoon will be to improve the Reprap code with an
aim towards a Kickstarter with a planned launch within a month.

The Kickstarter will be making Reprap based 3D Printers by a non TOG
member Alan Donnelly <laye...@gmail.com>

He would like to add extra features not currently available to the
arduino based stand alone controller to give extra functions. As a
second project he would like to add bluetooth wireless operation.

The controller being used is:
http://reprap.org/wiki/RUMBA

http://reprap.org/wiki/RepRapDiscount_Smart_Controller

and the code is:
https://github.com/ErikZalm/Marlin/tags

Whoever works on the project will be given access to a working Reprap
with all the hardware for testing the setup. There may be a budget for
the time involved. The main plan for the day is to specify what
changes need to be made.

His website is:
http://www.layerlabz.com

You do not need to be a software programmer, but those who have coded
for Arduino or in "C" would be welcome. Alan wants help deciding what
should be changed so anyone with an interest in improving Repraps is
more than welcome.

The event is free but we will be asking for donations to cover TOGs
cost of holding events.

Location information is here:

I would really like my ramps or rumba switch off the printer when the print is finished. I guess it will be easy to add a relay to control it and meaby short line at the end in slicer.  Meaby it could also use the ON/OFF wires from power supply.
I would like to be able to activate it from the screen when working without PC. I often print at night and I am waking up at 5am to swith it off. This would help me a lot and would be great improvement for reprap community.
I would like to have this option in marlin firmware to activate something like SLEEP MODE in TV but not like switch it off after certain number of hours, but when the print is done, cooldown the nozzle and switch off power supply to the whole machine. I sometimes have print I leave at night and dont know how long will it print so I have to check it at night. Do you know how to implement this?

Will you be around on Saturday afternoon to discuss this?

We need to do a list of priorities and impliment the most important.
If you are talking about cutting the mains, I could probably come up
with an external unit that cuts the supply when given a command by the
rumba.

I think also PC power supplies have a sleep mode, and if you are using
this type of power supply then this could be signalled to go into low
power, power save mode, which would be cheaper to impliment, and it
may still supply enough power to keep the rumba on.
