Dear colleagues,

on behalf of Enpei, please try to answer her question:

"I would like to ask about how to find a way to do time integration for non-diffusive terms.

As the state variable are diffusive, and diagnostics are not being integrated over time, what would be a good way to do time integration for a non-diffusive term. "

Thanks,
Carsten

Hi Enpei (Carsten),

Without further specifics (What host model? What type of terms, and for what purpose?) it is difficult to comment in detail. But many host models allow you to save timestep-averaged diagnostics, which could be multiplied with the timestep and summed to compute a time integral. That integral would by definition not include any transport terms. And some hosts (e.g., GOTM) also allow you to directly save time-integrated values of diagnostics (“time_method: integrated” in output.yaml)

Cheers,

Jorn
