Hello everyone. Has anyone tried to look at Assign 1? I tried to print
the Module sources based on the roadmap but I'm a bit surprise that
Ass 1- Question 3 is not related in any remotest sense to the Mod 2.8
as the source indicated by the roadmap. Am I reading the roadmap
incorrectly?

Hi everyone,

I have finished 1st and 2nd questions so I will be glad to discuss those with you. By the way, the 1st question has been changed so please check the technical update for that. The roadmap is not updated so do not take it into consideration.

Have a good night

That is great - I also saw that the 1st question has been changed

I could use some help, question 2, what did you do with warranty
liabilities? how does that relate to the warranty expense? it's an
opening balance, so do I just disregard it? But there's the amount in
deferred income tax. Help please!

Hi Katherine - it is too hot to be doing this homework....

But this is my thinking about the Warranty Liability.
Normal Entries during the year... for the Accrual   Dr. Warranty Expense - Cr Warranty Accrual

And then when you have warranty expenses you would   Dr. Warranty Accrual - Cr. Cash/ A/P

So with an opening balance (32,000) - the accrual would have a debit balance...

I have posted a question on blackboard to see if someone replies....

From Blackboard I have determined that we deduct the 32000 warranty accrual.

the logic behind it is that the expense matched the claims so the entries would have been...

Dr. Warranty Expense
Cr. Cash
leaving the warranty accrual to be deducted from taxable income...
That is what I am going to do... not sure if it is correct or not...

This does help, do you have any readings you can point me towards? I
really want to make sure I understand the thought process for the
exam... I guess I should do some more practice questions to see how
they address these things.

Now I wish I dealt more with warranties at work!

Also, I heard there's a proper discussion board through Blackboard but
can't find it, any thoughts?

Thanks!

Does any one know where I can get solution to questions in the text book apart from the self test?

I just want some more practice exercises with solution guide.

Thanks

Matthew
