Dear Graduate Student in a Industrial/Organizational, Clinical, Counseling or
School Psychology program:

I am a graduate student at Illinois State University working on my master’s
thesis in Quantitative Psychology. I am currently investigating research
self-efficacy and the best way to measure it. I believe that my study is
important to any field of psychology because it is essential that research
self-efficacy be fostered among professional psychology graduate students. As
a graduate student, you are in a unique position to help me study current
measures of research self-efficacy. By clicking on the link at the bottom of
the e-mail, or accessing

http://www.ilstu.edu/~mlfores/consent.html

you will be forwarded to my survey assessing research self-efficacy. This
survey should not take more than 15 minutes, and completing the survey will
make you eligible to win one of three $75 gift certificates to your choice
from many popular stores. The drawing will be completed at the end of my
research and no later than February 1, 2001. The precise odds of winning this
raffle will not be known until all surveys are submitted, but odds are
expected to be 500:3 or better.

I will do everything possible to preserve your confidentiality. We will have
no way of linking the data you provide with your name. Your name and e-mail
address for the raffle will be asked for AFTER the information you provided
in the survey has been sent to a separate e-mail address. After providing
your consent, you may choose to withdraw from the survey at any time by
exiting the survey site.

I understand that your time as a graduate student is very valuable, and I
appreciate your time in reading this letter and hopefully completing the
survey. I believe that this is a very important study that can aid the
research self-efficacy of all graduate students.

And I haven't been one for 25...

I don't think any of us are, individually, on _her_ list - this list
is for academics, practitioners, and I believe for students in the
field of I/O. She could perhaps have been more explicit, but by
sending out the request, she reaches everyone.

Actually, it's nice to see some activity - it's been dead for months.
