College Postgraduate Awards


* Mary Immaculate College Doctoral Scholarships (Bursary only of Euro
12,700 - No separate fee remission - for three years)
*
* Candidates for the Doctoral Scholarship must register in, and be
nominated by, the Head of one of the following MIC departmental areas:
*
* Education, English, French, Gaeilge (Irish), Geography, German,
History, Mathematics & Computer Studies, Media & Communication Studies,
Music, Philosophy, Theology & Religious Studies, Applied Linguistics.
*
* · The following documentation is required:
* ·
* Application by Head of Department on behalf of student
* ·
* Transcript of student's academic record, together with open-ended
curriculum vitae
* ·
* References from two competent academics who are acquainted with the
academic background and history of the applicant
* ·
* A copy of the post-graduate application form (forms are available
from Student Services)
* ·
* A copy of the candidate's Research proposal
*
* Nominated candidates shall be reviewed by a selection committee,
which shall make recommendations to an Fo-Choiste Stiúrtha =
(Management
Committee) of the College as to who should be awarded the Doctoral
Scholarship.
*
* Note: A decision to award a doctoral scholarship to a postgraduate
student shall be based upon an evaluation of their academic merit and =
their
potential for scholarship. This evaluation shall take account, inter =
alia,
of the following evidence:
*
* the quality and consistency of the individual's academic record
* any postgraduate courses or research already undertaken or in
process
* publications
* papers delivered to conferences, seminars or societies

It is a requirement of the award that students shall have a Master's =
Degree
or equivalent, and shall be registered as full-time students of the =
College.


MIC Studentship - 2 Awards (Fee Waiver and Bursary of Euro
6,000 per annum, renewable for up to two years for an MA candidate, or =
up to
three years for a PhD)

The following documentation is required:

* Formal Nomination by Head of Department of student/s supervised
within the department
* ·
* Transcript of student's academic record, together with open-ended
curriculum vitae
* ·
* References from two competent academics who are acquainted with the
academic background and history of the applicant
* ·
* A copy of the candidate's postgraduate application form (forms are
available from Student Services)
* ·
* A copy of the candidate's Research proposal
·

which
shall make recommendations to an Fo-Choiste Stiúrtha as to which =
students
should be awarded studentships.

· Note: it is a requirement of the award that
candidates shall have a First Class Honours Undergraduate degree, and =

be registered as full-time students of the College.

It is a requirement of all College postgraduate awards that
recipients shall sign a postgraduate student contract and comply fully =
with
its terms.
