Hi everyone,
My future wife, Elbe Spurling, is a highly creative artist, most known for
her work with Lego under her birth name, Brendan Powell Smith. She spent
over 10 years illustrating stories from the Bible in Lego, then did two
history books illustrated in Lego, and is now working on illustrating the
Book of Mormon (and the history and teachings of the LDS church), all in
Lego.
She's also an amazing musician. I think that quite a bit of her musical
work could be of interest to ectophiles. Her early work is very quirky and
folky. Her more recent work is more psychadelic and pop/rock/kind of all
over the place, really. She enjoys mixing up different sounds and styles.
She recently recorded a double album that's a concept album about her
transition, primarily inspired by her own gender transition among other
life transitions she has experienced. She's looking to help raise money for
the Trans Lifeline, as transgender people are disproportionately more
likely to suffer from depression and suicide.
The album has been submitted via cdbaby and should be streamable from
online services soon, but in the meantime if you want to support Trans
Lifeline, you can get a download link if you donate $10. Please visit
http://elbemusic.com/ if you're interested!
As soon as the album is streamable, I'll let you know, in case you want to
check it out but don't want to donate to Trans Lifeline.
