Workshop Overview and Objectives (Draft):
Workshop lead by Dr. Helga Rippen and Frank Ferrante will feature
presentations from experts from the fields of telemedicine, engineering
for
telehealth, and eHealth. Topics will include Home Health Care needs and
public Policy, Web-based teleconsulting and telemedicine designs, Home
telemonitoring frameworks, technological capabilities now emerging,
Robotics
potential and current applications, introduction of Web-based Electronic
Patient Record automation, Wireless applications, and , will provide
instructional aspects of telemedicine and telehealth operational design
and
will facilitate group activities that will be aimed at providing the
attendees with a opportunity to design a telemedicine operation
considering
all the aspects of policy, technical, cost, and engineering and with the
assistance of some of the leading experts in the area, present their
designs
for critiquing by the attendees and constructive recommendations for
evolving the system in a real working environment.
Objectives: Inform the International audience of Internet Web Experts
and
related technical experts in Computer-based telecommunications of the
issues
being faced by health professionals and the public in addressing health
and
medical issues in the rural, urban environments and relate these issues
as
noted here in the U.S. to the variations that abound internationally.
