How To Manually Patch Warcraft 3
Updating to the latest version requires the use of the "Warcraft III Launcher" program. Clicking on "Battle.net" in the main menu will automatically attempt to patch the game to the latest version, and will download and run the "Warcraft III Launcher."

This Kloader Guide is for new players to experience the content that they otherwise can't and also so to make players aware of these pre-WC1.28 methods of "hero progression". We do not endorse KLoading and highly recommend finding groups via our forums, public game bots or chat for natural progression and game experience. Please view our TKoK KLoading Guidelines before taking boosted characters into public games.
At the time of this write-up, there appear to be no confirmed working Kloaders that supports v1.28+ of Warcraft 3. So we will be using the classic UnrealLoader - Universal kLoader with an older version of WC3 instead.
Ever since the new 1.28 Patch, Warcraft installations run over new "Launcher" and are immediately patched to the current 1.28b. Re-installing or re-patching to an older version will not resolve the issue.
This may occur on both versions, 1.26 and 1.27, and requires the following fix: Warcraft III bypass map file size limit. [ver.6]. Simply place the 2 files, forcefixsizelimit and GameDll_fix_mapsize_limit into your warcraft root directoy.
Probably because 99% of the LoD players play on RGC. And it probably takes more effort to patch it to work with 1.28 which they probably see as a waste of time due to their main playerbase not using 1.28.
Wrong. Newer (and older) wc3 patches are simply incompatible on a technical level with current newest DotA and LoD. This is because new LoD and DotA use a new method called memory modification which isn't possible anymore on wc3 patches 1.27 and higher. If blizzard modifies their patches to allow this again (very unlikely) the maps would work.
Known Issues
Unable to change resolutions in native fullscreen
PTR only supports English version of the client
This will be the last version to support Windows XP
The Mac PTR client requires manually running the launcher to patch
There are rumblings that Blizzard is preparing to announce a remaster of Warcraft 3, rumblings sparked by this new patch and a recent high-profile tournament. Blizzard released StarCraft: Remastered in July 2017 and it went down well, so a similar treatment of Warcraft 3 makes a lot of sense.
The included release is built with the "old" Starcraft-style hash code. It should work with existing accounts.
If you want SRP3 support you'll need to rebuild the DLL with USE_SRP3 enabled in patches.h or download *_SRP3.zip package.
