Hello!

I'm going to Osaka next month and I'm planning to buy Katana, old live
blade. I'm going to use about 1 000 €(1 300 $). Can you help me about t
he
locations where I can find swords? Is there auctions, flee market or budo
shops, which sell katanas?

Yours Sinceraly

Hi,
Buying a sword is not a problem. Taking it out of the country is a problem.
You will need several weeks to get all the paper work done. Do you read and
write Japanese? And then you still have to face Japanese and your country
customs and duties. Why not buy a sword in your own country and not be
bothered with all the problems. Also, as a sword collector for 37 years,
with $1,300 it will be difficult to buy a sword in Japan. Try ebay instead
or buy from a local collector.

Best of Luck,

Hello Miska,

Bob mentioned that it would be difficult to buy a sword for $1300
in Osaka. I would disagree with this. I would say it's
impossible to find anything worth owning for less than 4 times
that. IF you can find anything for that price, don't buy it,
because it will be junk.

Hello!

First, thank you for your advices.

Do you know any special places or shops or anything where I could start
finding? Also I can use more money if it's necessary, but first I have to
know places.

Miska,

There is a shop near Umeda (basically the CBD of Osaka) where you
could start the details are below:

Meirin Sangyo
Osaka-Shi Kita-Ku Komatsuhara 2-4
Fukoku-Seimei Biru B1.

It is in the underground opposite Sonezaki Police Station, ask there
for directions if needed. I have only bought Iai clothing from them,
but got a really good discount for volume. They have some live blades
there but more at the main shop near Tenouji. If you are staying
central in Osaka, I would start here are get referrals to other
places if necessary. I kind of agree with the other guys about
budget. You might want to prepare to pay a bit more unless you are
really really lucky. Anyway, happy shopping. Feel free to e-mail me
at jdcoun...@mac.com if you need some more info.

Cheers
Jason
