I just completed my HylaFAX+ 5.2.9 configuration on Fedora 10, it works great. I am doing a range of test to find out the best practice for my company. I am going to use 3 modems with my configuration, 2 modems will be used for RECEIVE only and 1 modem for SEND ONLY. I understood, during the configuration of each modem - "faxaddmodem", I need to configure the "Rings to wait before answer" setting and the default is "1" which allow SEND/RECEIVE and if I set it to "0", the modem will be for "SEND" only.
Because I will use 3 modems, in this case; my modem configuration will be looking like this.
ttyS0 - Rings to wait before answer -> 1
ttyS1 - Rings to wait before answer -> 1
ttyS2 - Rings to wait before answer -> 0
Ideally, only ttyS2 will be used for SEND ONLY. If I set like this, if the ttyS2 is busy or in use, would the fax job in queue try another modem ttyS0 or ttyS1? How can I force it all outbound fax through ttyS2 only?
thanks!

To control what faxes you use to send out faxes, you need to specify
which modem you want to use on the commandline when you are sending the
fax. This would be in the mail2fax script if that is how you are sending
your faxes. You can also use environment variables and user and
systemwide config files to specify the modem. see "man sendfax" for more
details.
If you want to use multiple modems (but not all of your modems) to send
faxes on, you would create a ModemGroup. Put all of the modems that you
want for outbound faxing into the group and specify the group name as
the modem.
