I’m running 4 fax servers with about 50 modems, everything works great...

Just wondering if a Mainpine IQ Express board would work even better than a MT5634ZBA

HylaFAX+ 5.5.8
Fedora 23 Server
Multitech MT5634ZBA USB
Dell optiplex core2 cpu, usb external hubs

All else the same, with the IQ Express you would expect to see the same
or better results as with the MT5634ZBA.

The modem chipset that the IQ Express uses is a later generation from
the one that the MT5634ZBA uses. (Lucent --> Agere --> LSI)

If with a well-developed modem (such as the IQ Express and MT5634ZBA)
you are experiencing significantly higher-than-expected failures due to
protocol failures in Class 1/1.0 such as...

4461 COMREC received DCN (sender abort) {E108}
4083 V.21 signal reception timeout; expected page possibly not received in full {E111}
2540 No response to PPS repeated 3 times. {E147}
2327 T.30 T2 timeout, expected signal not received {E118}
2232 Failure to train remote modem at 2400 bps or minimum speed {E137}
1639 RSPREC error/got DCN (sender abort) {E103}
1607 DIS/DTC received 3 times; DCS not recognized {E136}
1583 No response to MPS repeated 3 tries {E150}
655 No receiver protocol (T.30 T1 timeout) {E126}
648 Failed to properly detect high-speed data carrier. {E112}
638 Failure to transmit clean ECM image data. {E143}

.. then generally the problem has more to do with the quality of the
line audio than it does with the modems.

You can't usually control line audio quality on the remote end, but you
generally can control it on your end and on your carrier's end (even if
that requires switching providers and carriers).

Thanks,

Lee.
