I recently upgraded my working Hylafax-installation to Debian 12
thereafter hylafax did not work anymore.

So, I decided to install Halyafax+ form sources which worked.

But then faxsetup complains that unit hylafax-hfaxd.service and faxq were not found/loaded

Where can I find them?

If you install them from source, you have to create systemd services
yourself when you want to start them using systemd.

I recommend using the packages provided by Debian and debugging what
the problem is.

Are there samples for the service units available?

I read in some other postings that hylafax nowadays is using a mix of init.d and systemd

There are descriptions.
The relevant part should be the command that starts hylafax as a
service. Check the manpage or check what older versions of Debian did.

Some packages still uses sysv scripts, but support for them will be
removed soon.

Again, I recommend you to use the packages by Debian and look what is
going wrong.
