I want to try hylafax+ under debian or ubuntu. There does not seem to be a
build for either (apt get only finds hylafax).

If I will have to do a build myself, would appreciate points to
how-to/instructions.

Any advice much appreciated.

-Best regards,
John

You'll have to build from source. Either you can simply do the
'./configure && make && make install' version or you can build a DEB
file roughly following the "REAME" approach found in this tarball:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/hylafax/files/hylafax%20debian%20build%20files/hylafax-deb_build.tar.gz/download

Thanks,

Lee.

I intend to attempt a .deb as soon as I have some spare time, maybe this
week. We could collaborate especially for test installing it. I
previously built a hylafax+ .deb but was unsure as to whether it was
correct, I had upgrade-installed onto a server where plain hylafax was
already installed, and hylafax/hylafax+ stopped working. Building debs
is somewhat complicated to do right, and upgrade install adds to this
complication.

If you have time to create a Debian package, I wish to have a look at
it. I did try a few times to build such a package, but never got enough
time for creating the complete procedure. We may discuss all details
via email, privately or maybe on this list.

Bye,
Giuseppe

You should be able to simply take the DEB build files from the existing
package, replace the tarball, and then there will only be very minor
modifications from there to get it working as a replacement.

Thanks,

Lee.
