[hylafax-users] Error: No Carrier Detected - facsimile job 24 failed

I'm running Hylafax 4.4 on Centos 5.6 using a PCTEL Linmodem, i can
receive fax but i cant send any fax
All Faxes i send fail with the error message No carrier detected
Thinking of buying a new Linux Compatible Modem in the future but can
someone look at this error Message/log below and explain to me what "No
carrier detected" means ??

The "No carrier detected" means that the modem didn't detect a fax at the
other end. So it might be because of a lot of different reasons like you
might need to dial the 9 to go out, the line you use might be busy or you
might just not have any dial tone.
So, pick up a good old analog phone, plug it into the line and see if you
can dial a fax number. If the fax at the other end answer, then there is
something wrong with your hylafax configuration. If it doesn't answer, then
there`s something else that's preventing your from reaching the fax.

"OK" is an undefined or invalid response to ATDT. In past experience
with other modems someone had determined that, at least for that modem,
the OK response to ATDT meant the same as "NO CARRIER". However, I know
of yet other modems where the OK response to ATDT indicated a V.34
incompatibility. You'd need to consult the PCTEL modem driver
developers to find out what is the case here.
Since you're using Class 1 and since V.34 isn't likely at play here, I'd
suggest that the "NO CARRIER" evaluation is probably accurate-enough.
