Suggestions for bandwidth measurement software?

This is slightly off-topic ...

Does anyone have suggestions on good software to measure bandwidth usage?
I'm trying to ascertain usage on our T-1 line. Something that could graph
the usage at 5 minute intervals would be ideal.

Checkpoint makes FloodGate-1, but not all traffic flows through the
firewall, and it's designed to measure incoming and outgoing traffic. I'm
looking for something that measures all traffic on a segment (all traffic in
the DMZ is either outgoing or incoming; not much communication going on
between devices).

Thanks!

Jen

MTRG is a good tool for this event. You can get some information at
following URL

You can use MRTG (Multi Router Traffic Grapher) to measure bandwidth
utilization at 5 min intervals. MRTG used PERL Scripts to check the traffic
utilization and graph it.
Check the site http://ee-staff.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/mrtg.html

Ramesh.

MRTG does a wonderful job using SNMP information from the Router.. All
traffic is picked up..
And even better its Free

Thanks to all for the suggestions ...

I'll look at both MRTG and the Elron product. Elron's quicker to install, so
I'll start with that. It looks like MRTG might be more flexible, though,
since it can check up on many different routers, while Elron is only going
to measure traffic on one segment ... I guess different tools for different
jobs. We'll see how they work ...

Thanks again!

ok, I think we're all in agreement - MRTG is a fine after-dinner drink, and is a generally environmentally safe product. It can be a pain in the ass to install and maintain, but thats yet another off-topic discussion, most likely there is another mailing list for MRTG...

but those graphs sure are pretty!

(sorry about the noise. this is a comment about the noise. becoming noise. terrible.)
