I am new to this list, so I do not know if this has been discussed
before:

Tom Duff of Lucasfilm, Ltd. has been porting UNIX to the PERQ.
Actually, not UNIX but the Coherent Systems flavor of Unix which is,
one hears, very good. Tom is a known, capable system wizard of UNIX
so it is reasonable to believe he will be successful if only he has a
enough time to work on it. Lucasfilm plans to be a heavy user of
PERQ's, they have at least one currently and 8 on order.

One reason they want UNIX on PERQ's is so they can "easily"
move software from their VAX out to the distributed systems.

Of course, once UNIX runs on the PERQ, the PERQ now has a
whole plethora of working, proven software. Unlike its current
software state.
