As I expected, it was something simple. I needed to run doconfig so the
new adapter would get loaded at boot. After that, piece of cake!
Thanks to Raul Sossa Sossa for quick response!
Cheers!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a new (to me) RA3000 with one mirror set created. The unit was
attached to an AlphaServer 400 with no other controllers in it. That
server booted from rz0 internal, and the mirror set showed up as rz8. I
built file systems, added an informix database and pretty much tested it
out for a couple of days. I shut everything down, connected the ra3000 to
a new controller with a y cable and external terminator in my AlphaServer
800 (already has a kz adapter connected to an hsz40, and a mylex for
booting). At the srm prompt, is see the new controller as pkc0.5.0.14.0,
and the disk as dkc0.0.0.14.0
Problem: when I boot unix ( 4.0g same as the AlphaServer400 ), the device
special files aren't being created, and scsimgr -scan_all doesn't find the
disks either. The mylex drives show up as re0, the hsz40 drives are rz128
and rz129. Its been years since I've had to mess with this stuff....
TIA
Ralf
