HAPPY SPRING! IT"S FINALLY HERE!
It was mentioned that there is a Event going on in spokane that is
part of the Washington Film Trust called "Artist's Trust" - If anyone
knows more about the meeting taking place in spokane involving Grant
writing (seminar?), pleas let me know so I can post it on the site.
There was input that we should look to contact the local radio
stations to see if we can run PSA like spots on Stations like KSPS
radio or KYRS: Thin Air Radio. IT was mentioned they have a film
themed show? anyone know more about this?
What do we think of putting out a call to arms for individuals to make
short spots that could be aired on CMTV, youtube, the web site,
Facebook, linked through the emails we send out, etc. (maybe see if
KSPS would run it too?).
College Campuses, we need to find out how to get the word out to the
local colleges about our events. WHo has good contacts? were running
against the end of the school year right now, but if we can get the
word out about upcoming events in the fall, maybe that could help with
attendance.
A new name was thrown out for the group, MPEGS, Motion Picture
Enthusiasts of Spokane. Thoughts? MPEGS.com is not readily
available, but
mpegsblog.com is, so that kind of keeps with the
current name of the site. Let me know what we think, and if we want
to, If we think it's a better name I can purchase it and then move
everything over to it.
Also mentioned was posters. Seeing if places like Huppins or other
like shops would allow us to place posters in windows announcing or
describing upcoming events. This would THink we know any artistic
people who would be interested in designing a poster or some graphics
for posters and the site?
UPCOMING SHOWS
JUNE
OK, Do we think we can wrangle some DP's for this upcoming Months
meeting?
The wish list we had talked about were:
Donald Thorin
Peter Greene
Danny Heigh
Don Hamilton
Ira also mentioned he heard about one of the NXNW guys being very
familiar with the RED system.
Juan, do you think you could check with Peter, Donald and Danny
Ira, can you see who it was you were thinking and if it's not one of
the three above?
I will contact Don Hamilton this week to see about his interest/
availability.
For the Moderator, last I spoke with Tom Mullin he would still be
interested.
Ira you had also mentioned the (something) of light video that we
would like to see if we could show the Tuesday before at The Magic
Lantern. Can you check on that and get back to the group?
Judging by the Last tuesday, Ira and I thought that having no less
than 3 panelists, and no more than 5 would probably be a better
number, there was just so much to talk about and it really felt like
so little time. Let us know what you think.
JULY
we had talked of Doing Writers in july, then following up with some
events later on in the Summer/fall associated with writing.
A couple of names thrown out in the last meeting were:
Adam Boyd
Beth Bollinger
Marvin Smith as a mderator
Any other suggestions?
AUGUST
Put on a late summer Short format festival?
maybe an outside evening show on weekend night at THE SHOP or downtown
at the ART MUSIC AND MORE where the owner would like to put on an
event on the Side of the building he is in.
SEPTEMBER
maybe a panel of film theory
names mentioned were:
Dan webster
Leonard Oakland
Peter Porter
Luke Baummgartner (sp?)
This might also be the month for the performance of Sample acts from
local writers unfinished works form writers seminars?

OK all, so thats me vomiting my notes from the meeting in this
