in the get started page there is : If you need a PHP 5.4+ hosting service provider, try one of these services:

obviously  hosting is a topic not related to code but it is there in the documentation & i would suggest that the presence gives at some level an   implicit recommendation. I would like to suggest either its taken out of the documentation or that there is a sticky topic on this google group where at least users can give some real feed back on their experience.

I've been prompted to post this since currently i have 2 hosting providers , a large company on the list above has been bad on downtime & the re-newal  extortionate for what  service i have received whereas , on an upgrade from free to paid hosting where i have 3 sub domains ,all working great  i haven't identified any down time & the support has been nothing but excellent.

There are three points to add:
  • It should be no longer necessary to provide a list of hosters to meet the ancient requirements of F3
  • These are referral links. I had a look at the repositories and it looks like Bong is the owner of the referral IDs. The placement of the recommendation is clever
  • The links are placed on the website and are shipped with the fatfree and fatfree-core projects
I'd also like to see these links removed. However, I will not remove them as a removal could reduce the potential income of Bong (?).

No objections here. I have little time in front of a device these days so if someone can do the honors of removing the ancient links, you have my gratitude.

The links  don't have to be necessarily  removed if we could have a sticky on "real experience" of  hosting by users of F3.  , although personally i would want to avoid flame war of words here . The merit of a sticky here on this group would be hopefully that at least comments would  be reasonably objective, real and honest . maybe in answer to a specific problem.

For instance i may be returning to Ghana; PayPal does not operate in Ghana and even if you have a paypal account in the UK , if in Ghana either your Ip will be detected or they will twig your using as proxy & you will not be able to pay form a Uk PayPal account. I have had this verified by a  a PayPal volunteer moderator on a PayPal forum. So personally i'm going to have a problem with my current hosting that only accepts PayPal . Thus i would value a mention from users here who ,  may not be living in Europe or the USA as to which hosting they use.

If you look at all the reviews out there  they  are mostly all paid blog sponsored.
