Farm to School BC is working with 4-H BC to pilot a 4-H Gardening Club in the Vancouver Region. We're looking for teachers, parents, local farm or garden sites, and community organizations to collaborate with for a club starting in August or September! Specifically, we're looking for:
  • Adult volunteers:
    • Ideally educators or parents in the community, volunteers will be co-leading with the F2SBC Community Animator for the first several months. If a teacher or parent has an interest or experience in gardening, that's even better (but not a prerequisite)!
  • Host location with space to garden:
    • Space for the club to regularly meet, as well as for members to plant and maintain their garden projects. A school, community center, or urban farm with a growing space of at least 2m x 2m would be ideal, but is flexible.
  • Club members:
    • To be eligible for 4-H membership a youth must be between the ages of 6-21, with this program potentially welcoming members ages 9 to 19. If you know of youth who may be interested, please let me know, as member interest could help determine the target location of the 4-H Gardening Club.
4-H is a program designed to support youth development through hands-on, community-based learning. Find more information in these short videos:
Please reach out if there are any questions I can answer or if you'd like to find a time to chat about getting involved, and feel free to share this information with those in your network who may be excited about the opportunity!

Warmly,
