Hello Everyone,

Happy 2023!

Here's an update on some initiatives/resources that are available through SPEC School Gardens Program this winter season.

Garden Site Assessments
We are once again offering a garden site assessment service for schools seeking to start a school garden or seeking to improve an existing garden space. The price for a site assessment with a report is $150. Please contact me directly.

Volunteer Opportunity - School Gardens Program Assistant
Please share this posting with those that may be interested. The SPEC School Gardens Program is seeking 8-9 enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our various schools in Vancouver and Richmond to support food/ecoliteracy lessons. Volunteer shifts are flexible and organic gardening knowledge/skills are preferred. The deadline for volunteer applications is January 27, 2023

Teaching Resources
Find updated teaching resources on the Neighbourhood Nature School portion of our website including Snow Geese & AgricultureBackyard Birds of BC, Seed Germination Testing, and the Winter Scavenger Hunt.

Monthly Team Meetings (Food, Waste, Energy & Transportation)
Looking to learn more about SPEC's work and volunteer your time, skills to some of our incubator projects and initiatives? Join a monthly online team meeting. Visit the events calendar for upcoming meeting dates/times.

Fundraising Drive
SPEC is currently fundraising for our programs and services, especially the School Gardens Program to reach more underserved neighbourhoods. Make a contribution to our climate champions fundraiser.

Kind regards,
