Hello F2SBC Surrey Network,

I hope this email finds you well! As we enter the month of May, I’m excited to share some upcoming events and resources with you, as well as a fully funded opportunity to involve youth in the F2SBC Conference on May 19th.

Surrey Teacher’s Association Convention, May 5th: Hands-on Food Workshop

Join me at the Surrey Teacher’s Association Convention at Sullivan Heights Elementary on May 5th for a workshop on food literacy. In This session, we will be exploring hands-on activities from the “Hands on Food”, a food literacy resource designed for elementary school teachers with recipes and lessons that focus on local food and sustainable food systems.

Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into a fun and interactive lesson that will leave you excited to bring food literacy into your classroom. If you are attending the STA in person at Sullivan Heights Elementary, don’t forget to register or swing by our table at the Exhibitors Booth during lunch.

Fully Funded Youth Engagement Opportunity at F2SBC Conference, May 19th

Attention all teachers and community partners who work with youth who are passionate about healthy sustainable and local foods – we have an exciting opportunity to offer!

We invite you to attend the Farm to School Conference on Friday, May 19th  at UBC Nest in Vancouver – FREE OF CHARGE! That’s right, we have received funding to support youth (age 13-18) in Metro Vancouver to attend the conference. The bursary will cover the cost of a one-day ticket for a minimum of 2 or a maximum of 4 students, as well as 1 teacher’s release time plus a one-day ticket.

Join us on May 19th for a day of youth presentations and networking!

As part of the day, youth from the F2S Youth Advisory Committee will be hosting workshops that your students are welcome to sit in on and there will be a dedicated youth space after lunch for all the youth to come together for networking and discussion.

If you are interested in attending the conference, please email Angelina at surrey...@farmtoschoolbc.ca as soon as possible as bursaries are limited!
