Powwows and Plant walks

One thing that brought me a lot of joy this week was School District 73's First-ever District Pow-wow. What a great way to celebrate culture and honour and commemorate Le Estcwicwe̓y̓. 

We cannot powwow every day, but taking students outside in the Spring is a great way of decolonizing the classroom. Some activities to try this month:

• Engage students in 5-sense learning on a Native Plant Walk 
• make Seed Bombs 
• Take students outside to learn about Edible Weeds.
• Check out Butler Urban Farm, a garden that welcomes everyone to come and harvest the bounty for free!
