August 25 2009: First three proposals formally submitted

Dear friends,
I have today addressed the F2 Subcommittee as follows:
-----------
Dear Bengt-Olof, dear Members of the F2 Subcommittee
When developing state-of-the-art software tools for improved F2B
judges training, it has been found that a number of terms used in the
current F2B rule leave room for individual interpretation rather then
being unambiguous. In particular when flying over not perfectly level
ground, terms such as “parallel to ground” and “vertical” have led to
interpretation problems. Since it became clear at the same time, too,
that some of the current manoeuvre descriptions, such as the one for
the clover, do in fact collide with the laws of spherical geometry,
the F2B Working Group has found it necessary to clarify the rule
wherever needed. Corrective work was done meanwhile, leading to
related clarifications. For details of the opinion forming process
within the F2B Working Group, please go to:http://groups.google.com/
group/f2b-group?hl=en-GB

As a result of its effort, the F2B Working Group now submits to the
F2B Subcommittee a number of proposals for clarifications of the F2B
Rule. The Group hereby asks the F2 SC to submit all of those
proposals, in the name of the S/C, to CIAM for the upcoming Plenary
Meeting 2010, respecting the November 15 2009 deadline.

Dear Bengt-Olof, please kindly acknowledge receive of this request and
of the first three related rule proposals.

For practical reasons I will distribute the proposals and diagrams to
be submitted to CIAM as attachments to several individual e-mail
messages to the members of the S/C. Enclosed are the first three of
more to follow asap.
--------------

As the outcome of the voting on our proposals in the 2010 Plenary
Meeting depends on the opinion of the members of the S/C, the time for
you to talk to your national member of the F2 Subcommittee has now
come. Check http://www.fai.org/aeromodelling/contacts/subcommittee?i=81&f=2
for contact info. Please ask for support of our effort because only
with an unanimous recommendation of the S/C to approve we stand a good
chance to succeed in the Plenary.

Thank you
