Hi all. Hope your GP1 racing is going well.

I have a couple of questions regarding using a wheel on GP1.

1- After watching Ted Meats streams, should I set the wheel to about 200° rotation or higher at 300° or even 400°?

2- Again from Ted is it only possible to have seperate axis, for acceleration and break pedals or do you have to combine them in your wheels profile?

3- Does auto centre wheel and spring setting work in GP1 and is it advisable in GP1 set in your wheels profile?

4- what is the best steering ration to set (in game settings) and does it go with and affect your wheel rotation in your wheels profiler. Also what is the mouse setting and what does it do. Is it anything to do with a controller.

So thanks all for reading and hopefully any answers to come. I would love to know and hear all your wheel settings and idea tips. Cheers

I will try to answer the things that I know from the game settings and from discussions with Ted Meat.

1) Ted used 300 deg. wheel range. I'm not sure if he modified the setting depending on the track.

2) Ted used combined pedal axis.
I'm not sure if this is because he couldn't get it to work with separate axis or he didn't know how.

You could try using separate pedal axis in the following way:
In DOSBox map Joystick 1 to steering (X-axis).
Map one Joystick 2 axis to the accelerator and the other axis to the brake.

Use the following settings in the game:

Game Options Menu > Control Method > Edit Current Controls

> Edit Steering Controls
Device: Joystick A
Mode: Linear
Steering Help: Off
Max Lock (deg): [set to desired value to get the steering sensitivity that you want]

> Edit Accelerate/Brake Controls
Acceleration Device: Joy B - Stick
Mode: Non-Linear [you can also use Linear, but Non-Linear will probably give you more control]

Breaking Device: Joy B - Stick
Mode: Linear [you can also experiment with Non-Linear, but braking sensitivity is less important]

Traction Help: [depends if you want traction control or not, Ted play with No]

> Edit Joystick Axes
Throttle and brake on separate axes (when on the same joystick): Yes

3) Here's what Ted said: "wheel centering" option has to be "by the wheel", not "by the game" since there's no force feedback.

4) In one video I saw Ted using Max Lock (deg) = 13.
This is the most important setting because it affects the smoothness of the steering.
I suggest you experiment with it to find the best value.

I think the Mouse Travel setting works only if you're using Mouse steering.
It shouldn't have any effect with the joystick, but you can test this out.

If you are having trouble in step 2) with the mapping and calibration of separate pedal axis, try using combined pedal axis with the following settings:
In DOSBox map Joystick 1 to steering (X-axis).
Map Joystick1 Y- axis to the accelerator and Y+ axis to the brake.

Use the following settings in the game:

Game Options Menu > Control Method > Edit Current Controls

> Edit Steering Controls
Device: Joystick A
Mode: Linear
Steering Help: Off
Max Lock (deg): [set to desired value to get the steering sensitivity that you want]

> Edit Accelerate/Brake Controls
Acceleration Device: Joy A - Stick
Mode: Non-Linear [you can also use Linear, but Non-Linear will probably give you more control]

Breaking Device: Joy A - Stick
Mode: Linear [you can also experiment with Non-Linear, but braking sensitivity is less important]

Traction Help: [depends if you want traction control or not, Ted play with No]

> Edit Joystick Axes
Throttle and brake on separate axes (when on the same joystick): No

This is as much as I can help you.

Hopefully Ted will respond with more information. If not, you can try contacting him on YouTube or his website.

Cheers
