Hello everyone,
I was thinking of participating in F1TENTH with a 3D-printed chassis: Example
I wanted to make sure it was allowed by the competition guidelines, and I want your opinion on whether it is a good idea and whether it would be rigid enough.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Abdallah

Hello,
as long as it has a similar size, it is (usually) allowed. :-) A friend of mine is building one as well (but self design, not this one) and I think he went into sturdier materials -- chassis itself is quite ok, but something around the wheels was a little bit problematic. But it is possible that it is resolved in this particular case.

It's questionable whether a 3D printed chassis would have the same structural integrity of a factory-built one. It could possibly pose assembly challenges, as F1Tenth is built upon stock models.

As the car (usually) do not crash into each other, it should be fine. However using stronger materials (like Tough PLA) is a better option.
