I'm not altogether sure what I felt about the race weekend. Talk about
hero to zero, Maldonado has a serious personality disorder! Dropping
him 10 places isn't enough of a penalty in my view. Williams should
make it crystal clear to this clown that if he uses his car as a
weapon again he loses his seat! Schumachers pole was a surprise. He's
been positively lacklustre ever since he returned yet pulls this
fabulous lap out of the bag. Then, once again, gets caught in a
tussle. Lewis must be climbing the walls wondering just what he's got
to do to win a race and Jenson positively pulliing his hair out in
trying to understand how to get a balance in his car.
Webber drove a great race and deservedly won, likewise Vettel choosing
soft rubber and going 31 laps on them to finally finish 4th from 9th.
Bit of a shame the rain didn't come hammering down until 15 minutes or
so after the race finished. That would have thrown a spanner in the
works. Canada next. No idea what to expect!

What an odd Monaco. Webber making an uncharacteristically good start and not getting beaten off the line was the first oddity. I thought the 2nd was Massa's resurgence; he's actually pacing Fred!!!! Oh, Fred was sandbagging before blitzing Lewis at the pit stop, (Love or hate Alonso, he's a foxy bastard). I laughed when Pastor went out; world champion my arse! after all that though it was follow my leader for a lot of the race. As is usual with Monaco the thrill is in the driving styles, close to the armco cornering and the ever present danger that a driver will lose it and lunge. Well don Pottsy, yah boo Seb (the first corner shuffle promoted him unfairly, imho), props to Fred for a tactical masterclass and meh about the rest.

Why did the tyres last so long this time?

Oh, yes, Michael.

There was a time, when questioned, that MS would say 'you make your own luck'. The cynical among us interpreted this as meaning 'I have certain advantages gained through manipulation of the rules, the FIA and other influential bodes/people', and we all thought he was a good driver with some arcane, possibly occult, advantages. If he's still 'making his own luck' then he's lost the knack a bit. Nerfing Senna and then claiming innocence doesn't work any more. I think Michael might need to re-appraise his standing in F1; 3 years of underachievement has reduced his stock somewhat. During an interview on Sunday he still had that imperious look of an aristocrat beyond approach. There are few things worse to watch than a titan reduced.
