OK, I give up.
I have an RST 442B intercom, and an icom A22.
I have connected these together with a custom-made harness that allows easy disconnection.
I have verified multiple time that the connections between each contact on the icom A22 plug and the intercom are correct and solid.  I can hear the output of the radio without difficulty, the intercom works correctly, and when you press the PTT that I've wired in, you get Carrier.  However, there's no signal:  nobody can hear what I say.  I have verified that there is a connection between the pilot's microphone on the intercom and the icom's microphone contact.

It has become a problem that I can only fly to non-towered airports.

I think I need to buy an intercom and standard connectors for going between it and my icom.
I'm open to any and all suggestions.
What are you using that works well?

John

Poohbah,
I am using the Icom A-22 and any old headset.
I am also using the Icom supplied adapter that is about 6 in long and goes between the female connectors that the headset plugs into and the radio.

The other end of the adapter plugs into the IC A-22.

Sometimes I use Avcomm headset whcih works easily with fewer wires dangling around since the PTT switch is built right into the side of the headset.

Do you get transmit audio if you key the radio with the PTT switch on the side?

The Avcomm headset is about 100 bucks I am guessing and the remote PTT switch is about 20?

Depends on which way you decide to go.

You have tried other headsets or another IC A-22?

Rich ,who trims nicely when he remembers
OK, I give up.

John--I think you need an ICOM PTT switch.

John, Jim Weir who is and was RST lives here in Grass Valley. His phone number is 530-272-1432. The man is an electroics genius who tells bad jokes for sport.
Call him and feel free to mention that you are a friend of Robert Styber, which is as close as you can get to pronouncing my name in English.
To all you malcontents please note that The Real Robert has contributed something of value to the Grand Poobah and the list.

Here's the picture of my setup.  The two RJ47's join with a straight through connector.

G’Day John,

Did you get your problem resolved? Or did your question get hijacked into a discussion about European heritage, and sayings of grandmothers???  ;-)

I’ve been thinking more about the problem. If it is still with you, then maybe we should talk some more??

Cheers

I've still got the problem, have Jim Weir's number, but haven't had time to follow up on it.
I also wanted to do a complete wiring diagram of what I've got, since the pics I sent weren't very clear on that.

I'd be happy to chat off-line and see what we come up with.  If some good result, perhaps circle back to the list.

John
