Attention Aeronca Chief & Champ owners:

Bill Pancake has come out with some very good STC's for our Chiefs & Champs. One I have been waiting for for quite some time allows the installation of the:

C85-12F (Starter & Generator)

Or

C85-8 (No starter & Generator)

With the big tail (Dorsal fin)
not required.

STC - 11AC conversion.

Name plate:
11AC/Conv.

This is a great performance enhancement for our Chiefs & Champs without fuselage modification.

Bill has built me up a C-85-12F with starter & we are in the process of making this conversion right now.

Wow. That motor is pretty enough to mount on a pedestal in a living room! Bill sure does good work. roger

While that may in fact be true Roger, I can speak from first-hand
knowledge that Bill's engines are much better suited for mounting on an
aircraft, specifically an Aeronca (Chief) :-)

WOW 85HP for a Chief. I can't imagine how hard that poor little 65HP had to work pulling that morbidly obese Chief through the air. I can imagine that 85 engine thinking Please not a fat Chief please a slim Champ.

My C-85 in the Chief was fitted in 1954 as per the service letter, it
happened to be a C-85-12 but of course there was no room for the old
starter and generator, so they just had plates on. Since then I fitted a
Don's Dream C-85/O-200 and the performance is phenomenal. And yes the
slimness apparently has nothing to do with it as I did a 2000 mile trip
and back with my friend in his O-200 engined Champ and the Chief is faster!

Talk to them Ian! Tell them the REAL truth!

Bill Pancake has worked very hard on these new STC's.

This makes our airplanes totally legal.

Avoids the one time field approvals that can make the paper work confusing
at times....
