Hi All,

Dad, myself & my two daughters were at Wedderburn today. Grace my eldest
got her first ride (& first informal lesson) in the Chief. Here's a few
pix I took.

<http://harvie.cable.nu/gallery2/v/Don/Flying/wbn_20090531/>

The large white aircraft is a new aircraft at Wedderburn, owned by one
of our members who also has a DHC-2 Beaver.

This aircraft is a Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer. Quite an impressively
large aircraft. The little white aircraft under its nose is a Jabiru
owned by our club president.

Enjoy ;-)

I'd like to see all the ladders and scaffolding in the engine mechanics tool
kit for the Twin Pioneer. ;-) Makes one appreciate Aeroncas all the more.

Glenn, the guy who did the rebuild was once an A&P but is now a big
Harley dealer. He did the rebuild at the big Sydney GA airport,
Bankstown. Couldn't afford to keep it there any longer and now is
looking at building a hanger (big!) at Wedderburn. He rebuilt his DHC 2
Beaver after it had been sunk under water for some time.
He's one of the nicest guys you'd meet, and once when asked about his
half shaven unkempt appearance, he said "Well do sell Harleys you know"

I looked up Wedderburn on Google Earth. Evidently there are two, one in New South Wales and one in Victoria. Could not find the airport either place. I assume you're in NSW. Is Wedderburn your home or a frequent destination?

Was also amazed at how green the trees were being so late in the Fall.

Wedderburn NSW is the 'suburb' where the airfield that we fly from is,
and is a frequent destination: 34 10' 59"S 150 48' 34.44"E
Also: <http://www.wedderburnairstrip.com.au/>
(Scroll down to the bottom of the page for current aerial pix)

The surrounding trees are all gum trees which don't lose their leaves in
one go but tend to shed & replace them year round, so they always look
green. Yesterday was pretty good weather but we've had a few weeks of
daily rain & showers. As a result the airfield was pretty wet with a
good volume of water flowing in the drainage ditches and a waterlogged
parking area. The sight of the water running in the ditches was quite
fascinating to my daughters (aged 12&15) that they spent a fair bit of
time taking photographs of the water flowing in them. (It makes me
wonder just how much rain we haven't had in their lives that something
as simple as water flowing in a ditch is interesting to them at their
age). Of course all this rain has been coastal and doesn't make it over
the ranges to where it's really needed - It's as dry as ever out west
passed the great dividing range.

I'm about an hours drive north(ish) of Weddeburn at Penrith & Dad is
about another 45minutes further north of me near Richmond.

Travis, it's NSW, it's our home base. A private club airfield. 34 10'
53.35" S 150 48' 32.61" E. Wedderburn is the nearest village, nothing
there just residences.
My hanger is 34 11' 04.50" S 150 48' 37.54" E, and in the taxi way
behind my hanger you will see an aircraft. What is it.
It's an old photo by the way, full length tar runway and taxi ways and
lots more hanger to the north since then.
Look at the web sight, www.wedderburnairstrip.com.au Don is our web master.

By the way, trees don't loose their leaves in fall here. Eucalyptus,
(gum trees) are evergreens. Don't know what season that Google earth
shot was taken, but as I say, it's pretty old.
