Cy did that for me. You can all use this for your personal wall papers if you wish. I gave Todd permission to use it. To me, this photo made my eyes water. This is what OUR type of flying is all about. Allyson's (my niece doing the waving) happines is exactly our passion. What a testament!
My brother has a better eye for photo's than I do, as far as behind the camera. I was just blown away, when he sent this to me, as I had no knowledge it had been taken. It really touched me. I would class it as a "Norman Rockwell" photo of our flying world.

Is this on the web anywhere in a larger resolution? If not I wonder if Jodi would post or send it in larger format, hint-hint. It makes a great computer wallpaper.

I'm not trying to sound like a photo snob, but I am not much of a fan of Avweb's POTW anymore.  They pass over too many excellent photos and give top honors to the much more incidental or unoriginal images. I've seen the weekly ball cap go twice to one fella who cuts an airplane image on the ground and places it in a poorly executed overlay onto a photo of dramatic clouds as seen from aloft.  I've had some of my photos make it onto Avweb and I know several others here have as well.  I regret that I cannot recall who on the list took that marvelous photo a year or two back of the young girl waving at the Champ as it departed into the sunset from what looked like an idyllic farm strip.  That photo spoke to me on several levels.  Hastily Photo-Chopped artificial air-to-air photographs undermine those of us who are out in the field with our cameras endlessly seeking the perfect photograph that conveys the emoti ons, t he drama, and the love that we associate with flight.

Lately, I've been doing a fair amount of air-to-air photography with the pilots and airplanes at my airport and have been exceedingly pleased with the results which have come with a lot of hard work.  I've shot several interesting airplanes and have delivered some enlargements to the owners.  I've been hesitant to post these photos publicly on the internet because I've already had some of the airport locals get a hold of the photos and edit them in ways I had not intended without my permission.  I was taken aback when I found out that a local was emailing out my photos as though they were his.  I only went digital about six months ago, and I love my new SLR, but I greatly appreciate how secure film is.  After putting so much work into getting a good shot, it is very disheartening to have others modify it without your blessing.

I do hav e one of my air-to-air's posted on airliners.net that I think that the list may appreciate:

Sorry for getting a bit off-topic.

Too bad about the focus...
