The below copy and paste I sent to someone recently.  However, I figured someone on here might care to hear it also.  roger

"If you ever get really, really, really bored, go to the following file saver site and click on download.  When I was at ORD, one wintery night a Saratoga took off from PWK IFR.  Wx was about 800/1 with freezing rain.  He quickly lost his vacuum pump which failed his AI and DG.  He then discovered his electric turn coordinator didn't work.  He forgot to turn on the pitot heat until too late and it froze over loosing his airspeed. He then began picking up heavy airframe icing, his comm antenna iced up causing his communication to be difficult. He was solid IMC unable to climb on top and unable to get down and unable to flyin any particular direction.  The tape is about 45 minutes but downloads pretty quick.  It's a tape I sent my dad right after it happened.  The first 15 minutes or so is me explaining to to my dad what it was about.  Then it is the ORD ATC tape with first controller (I tried to edit his name out of it) working the guy initially, then me taking it from that controller.  For the next
30 minutes or so it was like trying to balance a broom stick on the end of your finger with the aircraft wanting to enter one spiral after another.  Anyhow, I flew the plane using the encoder, radar ground track, and ground speed readout updating about every 5 seconds.  Hard to believe it ever happened now."  rog

Hey Phil.  Ya got me!  I'm mostly a computer stuff idiot.  The place I uploaded it to I noticed dropped it immediately and I had to upload it again.  Maybe they're screwing it up.  In the next day or so I'll try to see if I can figure out what's wrong with it.  If I get it working, I'll let you know.  roger

Hey Phil.  Me again.  I just downloaded off that site and tried it with both Quick Time and Windows Media Player.  I skipped through on them both but it it appeared to play ok for both.  So not really sure what the problem would be then.  Roger

Finally got it to run had to download it. The situation sounded pretty tense glad I wasn't either party.
I ran the wav file through a free MP3 converter for grins and it reduced the file from 268MB to 48MB.

Thanks Phil

I don't know how it ended up in that wav file.  I did have it originally as an MP3.  Glad it finally worked for you.  Yea...that was four dead persons who got to live again.  As I said on the tape in the intro (I think), one of the pax said that on the first recovery "it felt like the meat was being pulled off her bones".  I think the plane got bent on that pullout and was part of the reason for the rest of the event that it was so unstable.  Of course the pilot having to fly the whole event basically with his eyes closed after all the instruments failed was certainly most of it.  roger

Phil.   I did a coversion with a free program and converted it to MP3.    It's now at the following in a much smaller format.  Thanks for the idea.   roger

Listened again can't see how you could stay that calm playing a video game with a sluggish control intermittent video knowing your talking to someone in their last moments of life. You must have been drained after that one.
