Hi all,

Just got the information on ordering leads for the slick ignition
harness from the Joe at Champion Aerospace. We talked a bit about
plugs for the small Continental engines and he reaffirmed that he
thought we should all be running the REM 37BY plugs instead of the REM
40E's. Reasons were better combustion with a cleaner burn and
improved fuel economy. His analogy was that the 40E's are like
cupping a birthday candle and telling someone to light it. The 37BY's
stick out into the combustion chamber a little farther and make for an
easier spark and more complete combustion. They are also approved for
our engines. Not enough for me to run out and buy a set but when the
time comes, I will be switching to the BY's I think,

Also, the attached service bulletin has some different rotation
recommendations from Continental as well as all approved spark plugs.

Scott, Glad to help, remember that the REM37BY is also 3/8" shorter
than the standard massive plugs.

Scott,

Wonder about running the 37's on the bottom of each cylinder and 40's on the top?

Problem is that I have a load of 40's that I need to use up and cannot just go out and buy 37's.

Thx,

Joe A

When we needed new ones we went with the 37 BYs all the way around. Just so they'd all be the same and interchangeable.

Only smarter not richer.
When there are 5 owners it is a lot less painful!

You can always sell the 40s and buy the 37s?

I would think that would work fine, I'm in the same boat here. The
ones I have would probably last another 20 years.
