Back in Tn from Thomasville, 4 1/2 each way in the Chief.   As the others said, it was great, weather perfect up , back, and there.  I think it is probably the best big fly in I've attended.  It is a relaxed event, super nice people from Thomasville running it, great support, no hassle approach towards the vistors.  I'm guessing they may have hit 300 aircraft attending at one time on Saturday.  If weather is good for it next year, maybe some list people can plan ahead of time to get together there.  I've posted a huge bunch of pictures at the following.  I didn't edit, delete, or anything...just dumped them all on there.  Select slide show and fast and it won't be too painful...if interested.  Roger M. Anderson, Murfreesboro, TN  (based at SYI)

Good job covering the event with your pictures. Everyone can see that Aeronca's were well represented. Many great looking pictures of the various planes. Excellent pictures of the facilities and don't forget the great food. Thanks for the pics.
Henry

Thanks Henry.  And sorry again I didn't give you a call.  The day had just flown past when I was reminded I had not done so.  Do you live nearby Thomasville?  roger

Hey Doug.   I was pretty much Shelbyville, TN direct  Americus direct Thomasville. That gave me  a little curve around Ft. Benning restricted area.  I did a quick fuel stop in Carrolton, GA  both ways.  As I flew over Americus I could see about 15 of those Pawnee look alikes still sitting there.  roger

I went back to Thomasville today to pick up my plane and returned it to Quitman. ( I live in Quitman between Quitman & Thomasville so I left my plane tied down and drove back and forth...18 miles) I asked the fbo operator how many planes they had and he said there were over 300 that registered and he estimated close to a hundred that flew in and left without registering. I did not ask but I guess they could estimate pretty close by counting the arrival packets that were given to the pilots when they were parked.

I believe those look alikes are called Dromedaries because they look like a one humped camel. That is waht is painted on the side of them.
Some one imported them and was making good ones out of parts of bad ones but last I heard the FAA put the halt on them being put into service in the US.

Rich, who spent the night in Americus a couple times but did not stay in the Holiday Inn.
