While at Oshkosh I talked with the engineer at ACA and he said that they had some surplus inventory of these tailwheels and would help me get it approved for my chief as he works with a specific individual in the FAA for the planes they manf.. This is maybe a bit more convenient because I live in Wisconsin where ACA is and would be working with the same Milwaukee FSDO office that I will need to get the field approval.
I was just wondering if anyone else has already gone through this process on a chief.By the way. The Fella from ACA said that they may be willing to sell several of these surplus tailwheels at a discount to get them out of inventory? List price (prior to any discount) is $410. This is a double arm 6" solid tailwheel assembly. Maybe others would be interested as well.I'm considering this tailwheel to replace my 8" Maule to help stop the shimmy (on pav't) and also to save some weight. I would love a Scott 2000 if I could find one in good shape that didn't cost my first born plus my left arm!TomD
