Hi All,  some nice flying days here in NorCal!

I noticed yesterday that the two elevator control cables that are accessible behind my rear seat are "loose".  Not really loose, but not much tension.  They can be deflected with little pressure.

The aileron cables, on the other hand, are "tight" and were checked for proper tension during my pre-buy inspection.

Are there specs for how tight these cables should be?  My A and P is at Oshkosh, but will be back next week.  Looks like two turnbuckles control the tension and position of the elevator cables.

Thanks,

Don

Sure it's not the rudder cables?

I have heard....they say....that tension to specs can frequently cause excessive drag on the controls....that cables a  bit loose are better than tight.  My elevator and rudder cables have some ability to deflect.   This is a "they say" though and not the gospel.   roger

Just to confirm, it IS the elevator cables.
