No warranty expressed or implied... just found it surfing around.

Hate it when I hit return and it sends it before I'm ready to go!

Wow! It is amazing someone took the time to inventory and list all of the pieces.

The sum of the parts is worth a lot more than the whole and this is how they intend to recover their investment.

Typically salvage companies go for metal aircraft and a Chief as picturef sells for under $2000 at salvage. They will easily double that investment but the rest of those small parts will be on their shelf for years to come.

Can be fixed

Anything can be fixed; it becomes an economic question whether it is feasible.

People don't appreciate the Chief. You can score salvage for under $1000 if you follow the Insurance Companies listings.

An 11AC our of license in need of repairs/restoration is lucky to fetch $3000

I have two that need annuals I'd sell for under $9000 and a fuselage with paperwork that needs the tailpost repaired wings and an engine for $1500

It is sad to see something like this go to salvage.  It was obviously recently rebuilt.  There are parts available to rebuild it.  For a shop to do the repairs is not feasible but for a hobby person it is very feasible.

A friend of mine moved into a hangar down in Texas and there is a Chief project parked in it.  Looks to be complete and mostly together.  65HP engine.  Owner died, and  widow needs it gone.  Nick listed it on barnstormers, they are asking $5000 for it all.  If it was close I think it would be worth my time to take a look, but Tx is to far.  I tried to put a link to the add, but then the message never got posted..Search Aeronca Chief on barnstormers and it will come up.  JImChuk

For the fans of Aeronca planes, its a given that restoration as a hobby is a great thing.  It is pretty amazing the number of
people who stop by the plane and say they restored a Chief at some point in their youth.   Yet, I suppose there is a point
where the marketplace and the cost of materials, the lack of A&Ps to supervise projects and all the other factors could mean
that the time runs out for some airplanes.  The Chiefs have always been the planes on the edge of the ramp needing
a little TLC for some reason.   It is a real shame that the Texas link I put up is being parted out.  It looks pretty complete to
my glance.  Hopefully all the parts go to make the fleet last a little longer! And thanks be that people are still making new
parts for them too.

Mark

Ken-

before ADS-B I used to stop at VWQ enroute to 47N in New Jersey. good restaurant.

W22 was favorite for everyone heading to Middletown for the NAA Convention because it was west of the high ground.

Do you mean FWQ?

The restaurant has changed hands a few times and as of now has not reopened. The latest owner got pinched 2 if not 3 times by changing restrictions due to Covid and kept losing his stock. I’m not sure if/when they will make another attempt. I really hope they do because our EAA chapter is located there and we do miss them.

VVS is outside the ADSB area and while we have no restaurant on the field we have cars to loan and some good local restaurants.

yes FWQ Rostraver...finger slipped down too low and hit the wrong key

I was going to suggest VVS to Lucy and the group from Virginia who attend the Aeronca Convention. You are as far North of their route as Beckley is to the South.

Upshur County was a perfect stop, but they don't have a courtesy car anymore.

No for FlySkyAds. Smaller company. They trusted me to start an operation for them over here on the West Coast after the summer so I basically run a banner tow company now here in LA area where I live with two of the companies planes.
