Looks like I am heading to Seattle today and will be driving back from
Seattle down the coast to LA, then head East back home to Phoenix.
Spending a day or so in Vancouver then heading South on Saturday or so.

Anything I should see along the way?

There is so much stuff that is stunningly beautiful, one can't see it all.  Try not to blink.  Better yet, hire a driver so you are not distracted.  That's one of the best motoring trips I've ever made.  Stretched it over two weeks because of side trips up the Columbia River, Bend OR, Crater Lake and the Redwoods.  Spent a couple of days in the SanFanFreako/Bezerkely area visiting relatives.  Just love that area, but two days is enough.  SF has the most over rated dining in the world and Berkely area is one of the best kept secrets on the left coast.

Driving up I5?   Stop by and say hi to Steve Wolf just south of Eugene.  You'll see his sign for
aerobatic rides...he's the one who did the GeeBee & Samson and a great guy. Creswell.

Pearson Airpark in Vancouver has a nice museum.

In Seattle, the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field, in Everett a tour of the
Boeing factory, Harvey Field in Snohomish for a clipped wing Champ.

While you are in the Seattle area, go see the restoration shop for the museum of flight. It is at another field. Don't recall now which one, but the museum can tell you and give you directions as well.
They used to let you walk around through all of the projects and get down and dirty. Great experience.

Coming down the Coast, there is a very nice Maritime Museum "off topic but nice" in Astoria. Then Tilimook has an old Blimp hanger NAS and a collection of WWII planes. An hour inland at McMinville is the Spruce Goose, a very new and well done Museum. Great collection of Planes and an Imax theater.
Further down the coast at Florence, we have three Aeroncas including my 7CCM. This week spring is in the air. Bring a camera. The Coast is beautiful.

It's up at Paine Field Everett, where the Boeing factory tour is.  Reminds me too that
MS's Paul Allen and his collection of planes is also up at Paine field, the Flying Heritage Collection...

Obviously, detour to Hood River Oregon and see the Western Antique Aeroplane
and Automobile Museum! About one hour drive east on 84 out of Portland.

Then stop in McMinnville and see Evergreen's collection. And don't forget
the Museum at Tillamook.

There is some information I do not think is clear to all. It's about the new
data that must be re-stamped on data plates after conversions. So I got out
my old Service Letters to confirm the following re-stampings -

CHAMP 7AC converted to the following:

S/L 13 Model 7BCM "CONV"
S/L 14 Model 7DC "CONV"
S/L 15 Model 7CCM "CONV"

CHIEF 11AC converted to 11BC

S/L 16 Model 11BC "CONV"

Hope this clears it up.

Tom Holmes and I are on hwy 99 at Selma CA with lots of Aeronca projects at
the airport. Poobah is along the coast hwy 1? around Santa Barbara. That
only leaves I-5 with nothing to look at but jackrabbits, tumble weeds, and
CHP.

Glenn Miller

PS Pete Plumbs wood wing shop (makes nice Aeronca spars) is also along hwy
99 at Shafter Airport.

If it's not too far out of the way, I'd be glad to see you at the
Goleta Aeronca Factory.

Would love to stop by, lets see how things go with the car. I pick it up
sometime later in the day on Saturday and head South.

Planning on stopping in Seattle for a bite to eat with Craig on the list after I
get the car, then point the nose on a heading of 180 degrees and push the
loud pedal!

Well, I'll be working at the GAF Saturday and Monday, and perhaps
parts of Sunday.
Got my cell phone? Look forward to seeing you.

I do have your cell, so let me grab the car and see how things go the first
day heading South.

Thx,

Joe A

If you are coming down the Coast you must pass through Florence. If you will have any time it would b e fun to visit.
