Nobody spoke up here, and I don't have any documentation for or against this, but I sprayed a little silicone-based lubricant on it. Does it make sense to the experienced mechanics on the list? Or do you have any definitive documentation?

John

The drawing 1-557 doesn't include any specifications, just the supplier name. A company with that name is still in business and has been for a hundred years. The product at the link below may be suitable for your application -- may even be the original material used by Aeronca. Meets a MIL spec, impervious to oil, developed in 1936. With some luck, this may be the product you already have.

Í had to buy 10 13 years ago and sold all I didn't need.

The Aeronca Museum was selling them aeroncamuseum.org
