After removing 3 lbs of bondo and fiberglass (inside and outside) and two horrible patches on the outside…….even if they have lots of work to be done they look a lot better. These are original Aeronca made pieces and still have the original metal stamps inside!

(One not done and the other still to fix)

Thanks, these are turning to be a lot of work after all.  I was able to extract the side design from this pic and scale it out.
Can’t wait to have them painted!image0.png

I did the same for the Chief and I figured out this year why some were a different design.  Apparently in a few ads, they had an artist clean up a photo and the artist changed the pant scheme.  You can’t find a period photo of a pant with that different scheme in the production run.  1946 photoshop.

Thanks! Well I like doing it right and hopefully this will be as original as I can get it.
It’s a love/hate relationship, sometimes the old lady wins, sometimes I do. Must ofthe time it’s the airplane but I’m just a tab more stubborn that it is ha!
And don’t worry, I have a 46 chief to do next but this time I have experience!

You will be amazed at the difference in performance of the pre-war vs the post-war

I flew my 65CA this morning before the needed rains and it was heavenly in zero wind on grass.

UPS is going to kill you. Bet it's over $300

Richard in OH who tried to ship a pair of 11AC wheel pants from Ohio to Kansas until they told me the price

He’s talking about 2 full wheel pants. The weight isn’t bad but the size box and destination could get interesting on price. Thats a check with all carriers item to see who’s cheapest.

It is box size and destination that drives the price. The weight is insignificant.

Sorry I even made the offer. I live 100 miles from EAA Next time I'm up there I give them to eaa
Just thought someone with a prewar might want. Have not been on this site for a couple of years. Guess times have change. I don't need the strees.

Hi, James. I didn't sense hostility - I think it was just a reality check that shipping costs are really high for these large objects. We're still a friendly bunch.
