I did the same for the Chief and I figured out this year why some were a different design. Apparently in a few ads, they had an artist clean up a photo and the artist changed the pant scheme. You can’t find a period photo of a pant with that different scheme in the production run. 1946 photoshop.

After removing 3 lbs of bondo and fiberglass (inside and outside) and two horrible patches on the outside.......even if they have lots of work to be done they look a lot better. These are original Aeronca made pieces and still have the original metal stamps inside!
