Thanks for the concern.  I was at Lompoc today, which is south of the Alamo fire (currently about 10 miles north of Santa Maria.) The smoke from that fire was generally moving east and north.
But as we were driving back, we saw the telltale billow of smoke and pillar of condensation in the direction of Santa Ynez.  It turns out this new fire started near Lake Cachuma, about 8 miles east of Santa Ynez and over the hills from us.  Time and winds will tell where this will go.

It has come over the hill and is now about 5 miles away.  Fortunately, no wind at this time.
Very sad to see the hillside burning.

Hi Guys,
You can find fire mapping products of the incidents here:
Whittier (near Santa Ynez)

Alamo (near Santa Maria)

Make sure to go to the most recent dated folder for the current fire maps.

You can also use the NASA WorldView to see current satellite imagery from Terra and Aqua Satellites. Add the "Fires and Thermal Anomalies (Day/Night)" layer to see the active fire areas. These are updated daily around the evening time for the most recent image.

All the best,
Keith
