Hi Peter

I hope you are well do you know if there are any STC of O200 Engines been fitted into an Aeronica Chief

I have an opportunity to obtain a good O200 and I am keen to improve the climb performance of my Chief.

Kind Regards

Pete and Christo

The Buzz Wagner STC permits the installation of an O-200 or O-235 on the Aeronca Chief. Cole Wagner sells the STC and he is in Clark, South Dakota. He is best reached be snail mail or phone around 1100z to 1200z.

Not really an O-200, at least on paper, is the C-85 with O-200 crank, rods and pistons STC. However it gets you the power of the O-200, without the hassle of the >90HP wood spar inspections AD.

When Dad bought his short C-85/O-200 engine from Don Swords, IIRC I’m pretty sure either the part numbers or casting numbers on the case halves indicated it was O-200, possibly some other parts like the accessory cover too. He later upgraded to the larger O-200 oil kidney for better oil cooling in the heat of summer. The log book entries indicate a parts list but since I only have the logs with me, that must be with the service and overhaul manuals in the hangar. (I can dig them up if anyone wants to know - but not until I’m out at the hangar again).

Just do it.

Can you think out of the box if you don't know you're in it?

Buzz Wagner STC really does permit the O-200 or O-235. I have a Chief that proves it.
