My Bakalite nut on my 1947 Chief disintegrated when I began unscrweing it to clean the gauge markings obscurred by decades of alluminium dust.  Now I am grounded.

This nut seems to be very rare.  A CNC machined version from drawing 1-780 is going to be expensive.

Has anyone got an STL file for this nut for 3D printing?  I tried uising ChatGPT, but after conversion from a pretty good looking Step file, its conversion to STL lost too much detail.

Isn't that the standard Model A Ford nut? Do you have a picture?

My neighbour redrew the nut for a 3D printer. Its tricky due to the threads. It worked!
The code is published on a public forum, if anyone wants to print their own.

Maybe this is what you are looking for?
Ford Model A gas gauge parts.
That’s what they are, really.

The is an interesting website. I guess Aeronca made their own one out of Bakalite because of the thin aluminium tank without many threads. Drawing 1-780 only shows knurling on the outside for finger tightning.
The inner nut locking the glass in place also looks smoother.  But its good to know that complete gauge assemblies are available and some of the brake parts look familiar.
The code to 3D print the nut is freely available on the net now.
