It seems I've seen such a list, but have been unable to find it.  If there is a list, someone on the Forum will know about it!  Thanks, Tom Roush, 11BC

Tom,
here is Vintage Aircraft's list.  I don't know how complete it is, as it purports to be grass runways that also has fuel.  Did you Google "grass runways"?

Aeroncateers,

AirNav , using their “Advanced Search”, allows you to search their airport database by a number of criteria, including “paved” only, but does not currently allow you to search for turf strips only.  I sent them a recommendation to provide this option and received a nice reply from their customer service manager.  Let’s see if what they do with the recommendation.  Maybe if they receive enough requests, they will add the feature.  Below is the reply I received.

John,

We have had request for an advance search for just Turf runways and I am forwarding this on to the managing partners for their consideration as well.... Thank you for the great suggestion and hopefully in the near future this feature could be something we add...

Sincerely,

Gina Garmon

I appreciate AirNav very much.  Great service.  Once recommendation would be to provide the option in the Advanced Search mode to search for ONLY turf airstrips.  Those of us with old taildraggers often prefer turf.  Thanks.

Tom,

This list is from 2006, so I'd recommend calling ahead to see if any particular airport listed is still in operation.

Just tried it again Cy and it worked for me.  It's a link to a PDF...if you don't have Adobe PDF viewer you might have trouble.

Try it again:

For some reason, the actual URL behind the pasted link was different than what was shown.

Hey Guys,

Beware of some of those Kansas Fields listed as having grass runways. Many also have paved runways, and a lot of them don't maintain the grass very well. An example of what I consider a poorly maintained grass runway is at Lyons, KS, tall grass and bumpy. Another one that is somewhat better maintained but  still pretty rough is the E-W runway at McPherson. Some of the McPherson locals use the grass parallel to the paved N-S runway on the west side. Benton, KS has an excellent grass parallel to the paved runway on the west side. Anyone wanting to make a Kansas stop, contact me, and I will tell them what I know about our area grass runways. It is probably best to call ahead when planning stops at fields with paved and grass runways.
