My time this day was spent seeking information about a Flottorp -36 propeller used on an Aeronca 50C and its Continental A-50 engine.

I found this site and everything except the model I need seems to be listed.

Has anyone accumulated information on the Flottorp propeller?

Hi Richard,

If I recall correctly, the type certificate is still active and the owner is doing some repairs of propellers. The one I had wasn’t able to be repaired and it turned into areally nice looking wall hanger when I pulled the coating off.

Scott, who would like to find more props and some Beech Roby blades.

One article I read said Univair bought the company and they offer a service manual for the adjustable prop.

Richard in OH looking for the 36 series prop and wondering if they were 72 inch props?

Hey Richard.  Coincidentally, we had a '38 Chief way back when, and it had an A50 on it with a cockpit adjustable propeller.  Flottorp?    There is an Ercoupe that runs around this area.  He does have a fairly new Flottorp on it.  I was talking to him about it not realizing they are still available.  Yes.  Being manufactured new he said.  roger

Thanks Roger. The FAA CD lists the prop for this particular aircraft as a Flottorp -36 and no other information. The aircraft is a '39 50C and I'm trying to ascertain what the prop's design characteristics were.

I have a fixed pitch Flottorp on my 46 Chief.  Bought it from Univair in about 1980.  Many laminations and pretty.  I think they are still available.

Hey Richard.  I was wrong on the Ercoupe.  That's an Aeromatic he has.   On our '38 K (I called it a  Chief.  It was the transition model that was to be a Chief), if you look really close you can see the prop hub on it.   I was thinking it was a Flottorp, but really don't know now.  roger

Thanks Mark

Do you have the model number?

Is it on a 65?

And, small world coincidence, Todd Trainer and the Aeronca Museum now own our '38 K.   Go to his link and you can see the picture of it when we had it and what it looked like after the last owner rebuilt it.   Also, Todd does have some pictures of my Dad's C3s on the site.  roger

Seems to get me airborne with a decent cruise and climb in the summer on a warm day at 5300 ft field elevation with me and full tank of fuel (non in the 8 aux).

It appears that Univair no longer sells these.  Evidently the Flottorp line is dead.

That's what it appeared to me. Univair no longer offered the fixed pitch prop.

Richard in OH thinking I may call on Monday and see if I can learn what happened.
