Hello F-AA,

First, what are you using to mount your wheel pants? I have the brackets on the inside of the wheels, but need to find a solution for the outer tubes of the spindles. Ideally there would be a closed end tube with a captive nut on the outer and an axel nut on the inner. But I’ve also seen similar tubes that fit inside the axel sharing the axel nut cotter pin.

Secondly, how were inner door cards mounted? When I got my Chief it had horrible vinyl over cardboard cards glued to the door with silicone caulk. There were, obviously, no holes in the doors where the originals were screwed to.

Thanks, I hope everybody is doing well.

I've seen two ways to do it.  One is the stock tubing, which is tapered machined part.  Second, I've seen simple tube with the bolt welded in place, which is a prewar design.

Drawings are courtesy of the National Aeronca Association, which is a good thing to join for two years which gives you access to the drawings.

Inner door panel?  I used a simple alumimum sheet screwed into the original doors.  Covered with taupe felt glued to the panel.

Hey Duane,

Dad’s solution was a little different to the method shown in the drawings, (he did this before Todd and everyone had scanned and put the drawings online).

I think it’s a little better than the single screw hole on the outside, and borrows from his experience with the Stinson 108 spat attach bracket.
