We have a 315 in our Chief and it is a near perfect unit for an application
like this. It is small, lightweight, good battery life, has a sensitive
receiver, and the NAV page with the large numbers is easy for old eyes to
see. You can buy them on eBay for about $50. I also use one on my boat
(primarily for a GPS speed readout). I keep a spare on hand for when one
dies (which they do, from time to time). My main complaint is, when
selecting a waypoint from the list, the small font is hard to read,
especially in certain lighting.
